Olivia Wilde Served Legal Documents by Jason Sudeikis at CinemaCon – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Coming out of a hackneyed Hollywood plot, the mysterious envelope picked up by don’t worry darling director and star Olivia Wilde while she CinemaCon presentation last night for the movie New Line were legal documents from Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis.

We understand that the manila envelope, marked personal and confidential, which was placed on stage, was the Primetime Emmy winner’s custody papers.

Separated since the end of 2020, Wilde and Sudeikis share two children. Although engaged, the couple never officially married.

Deadline has contacted representatives for Wilde and Sudeikis, and will be updated if we receive any statements.

While reps are silent, what happened on Tuesday was a very strong display, at least figuratively.

Last night during the Warner Bros. CinemaCon at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Wilde was briefly interrupted when an unidentified person approached the front rows and slid a manila envelope down the front of the stage towards her.

“It’s for me?” Wilde asked.

She picked up the envelope and opened it. However, like a pro, Wilde wasn’t shaken by what must have been a shock. With her personal life suddenly on public display, the filmmaker continued to speak to a largely exposing audience about her project. After the trailer don’t worry darling played, it was greeted with much applause.

Initially, Deadline heard last night that the contents of the envelope were unsolicited script. But we now know that is not the case.

In recent memory, it’s hard to think of an impromptu moment at CinemaCon involving an audience member trespassing with a star on stage, and it certainly raises questions of security. It’s also a bitter decision to sabotage a star with legal papers during his shining moment on stage in front of 4,100 in the film industry. When documents are served, it is something that is orchestrated by the person who actually serves the legal documents. In order to enter the Colosseum for CinemaCon, non-professional attendees must purchase a badge.

Certainly, what happened last night at Sin City raises some serious questions about vetting CinemaCon attendees.

When Deadline spoke to those involved in running the show at the Colosseum, they didn’t know how the person entered the building or who they were. In fact, the producers at CinemaCon simply stuck with Warner’s presentation.

Note that CinemaCon has a large security staff that usually checks bags thoroughly for recording and dangerous devices, as well as guiding the crowd in and out of the event afterward. each studio presentation. CinemaCon provided no comment when reached by Deadline.

by Wilde don’t worry darling releases September 23. Eighteen studios bid on the thriller that New Line won, funding the pic in the $20 million range. Florence Pugh plays Alice, a 1950s housewife whose husband, Jack, (Harry Styles) is employed by an enigmatic operation known as the Victory Project. The organization is expected to change the world as we know it. The town’s women are told to stay indoors, but Alice grows suspicious as she begins to observe acts of violence. The trailer is provocative and filled with steamy scenes between Pugh and Styles.
